What’s Love Got to Do with it?

Everything. Because God loved me so much that He gave His only Son for me. For me! And for you too! John 3:16

But will He ever stop loving me? Or could His love for me grow deeper?

If love grows with knowledge, how well does God know me? Completely, perfectly, 100 %. Is there anything about me that he does not know? Anything that will shock Him or disappoint Him? No! Absolutely not! I have to conclude then, that His love for me is total and perfect. He cannot love me more tomorrow than He loves me today. His knowledge of me does not grow, neither does His love. “See what great love the Father has given us that we should be called God’s children — and we are!” 1 John 3:1a

But What about Me?

My love for Him is far from perfect and my knowledge of Him is so limited. And so the problem is with me. I am the one who needs to grow in knowledge of Him. He already knows everything about me and yet He loves me. How can I not be amazed at so great a love as this? And so I try to understand the breadth and length and height and depth of His love – an impossible task. And even in this, He gives! He gives us the ability to increase in our understanding of His love. Ephesians 3:14-21

So what’s love got to do with it?

Everything! We love because He first loved us. 1 John4:19

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Ephesians 3:18-19 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

I Cor 2:16 For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ

Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Deuteronomy 6:5 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
